This is my sweet family of six! My husband Doug and I are celebrating our twelve year anniversary this year. Along with us we have Jayden (7), Ava (5), and Dakoda (3), and Micah (6m). We have lived in Colorado Springs for 8 years, 7 of which I have been a piano teacher. Although I have classroom experience teaching elementary aged students, I find that teaching my piano students one on one, in their own homes, is a unique and special opportunity.
My musical background includes over ten years piano instruction, five year of oboe instruction, and over fifteen years of choral instruction. Doug and I met on our college's Concert Choir tour. I can't wait until life slows down a bit and I can once again join a performing choir.
Three years ago, I began to get more referrals than I could handle. I hired on Maria Kuhn, who has been an amazing piano teacher, and such a pleasure to work with. More recently, as we have continued to grow, Amber, Becky, and Cassidy have joined us. I count it such a blessing to work with these wonderful, talented and dedicated piano teachers.
I sure look forward to meeting you and talking about what your child's goals and dreams are musically!
I grew up in Mishawaka, Indiana within a family where all four children played multiple instruments (despite our tone-deaf parents!). I received 14 years of piano instruction, seven years of trumpet instruction, and three years of organ instruction. I graduated from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in biology, and I accepted a junior high and high school teaching position at The Vanguard School at Cheyenne Mountain Charter Academy for the fall of that year. I am currently the Science Department Chair at Vanguard, where I teach high school biology, and accompany the junior high choir and various vocalists for auditions and competitions.
My husband Sean and I have been married for just over a year, and we love cooking, golfing, Alabama football, and our Labrador-mix puppy, Dixie. I also enjoy teaching swim lessons during the summer to children of all ages, and I am very excited to begin teaching piano lessons for Springboard!
I was born in Arizona but moved to Colorado Springs in the second grade. I have loved growing up here ever since! I graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 2011 and am currently pursuing a nursing major at UCCS. I have been playing piano for 15 years, 8 of those years with instruction. Due to a busier schedule I am not able to play as much as I would like to, but am still very passionate about music. I have an amazing family and they have always been supportive of the musical aspect of my life.
Most of my work experience is through babysitting, and I love being able to work with children on a weekly basis. Though this is my first shot at piano teaching, I had two wonderful trainers Maria and Becky to show me the ropes! So far I have had such a wonderful time meeting new students and their families. Being able to share in their musical experience is so rewarding.
I grew up in Colorado Springs and graduated from Liberty High School, where I now tutor for the AVID program. I also tutor privately and at Rampart High School. I sponsor the youth group, sing in the choir, teach preschool, and occasionally put on shows with the drama team at my home church.
I married my high school sweetheart this past May and am still getting used to all the changes. (I keep accidentally introducing myself as Maria Kincaid). I graduated a year ago from Pikes Peak Community College with two Associates Degrees, one in business and one in music. I love teaching piano and adore working with children of all ages!
